Portfolio Management

Evergreen International Balanced Income Fund is led by Tim Stevenson, Managing Director and Head of Evergreen’s Derivatives and Alternative Strategies group. Tim manages the options strategy and works closely with the fund’s other managers to determine asset class exposures in line with market opportunities. The equity portion of the fund is managed by Francis X. Claró, managing director and senior portfolio manager of Evergreen's International Developed Markets Equity team. The international fixed income portion of the fund is managed by Anthony Norris and Peter Wilson, senior portfolio managers of London-based First International Advisors, LLC.1

Objective

The fund seeks to provide a high level of income. The fund will invest primarily in dividend-paying international stocks and other equity securities and international debt securities. In addition, the fund will write call options on international indexes.

Funds that invest in high yield, lower-rated bonds may contain more risk due to the increased possibility of default. Foreign investments may contain more risk due to the inherent risks associated with changing political climates, foreign market instability and foreign currency fluctuations. Closed-end funds do not continuously offer shares for sale as open-end mutual funds do. The shares trade on the secondary market after the initial public offering. A closed-end fund is not required to buy its shares back from investors upon request. The share price of a closed-end fund is based on the market's value. Leveraging also involves higher risk.

The closed-end funds (CEFs) listed on this page are no longer offered as initial public offerings. Investors who wish to buy or sell fund shares of a CEF need to place orders through an intermediary, or broker, who will buy or sell fund shares on the stock exchange in a process identical to the purchase or sale of any other listed stock.
